Hurricane Alex

Its official the first hurricane of the season!
Tropical Storm Alex became a hurricane as of 10pm CDT Tuesday nite.
Hurricane Alex will hit 100miles south of Brownsville TX.
Alex is either going to hit inland tonite or tomorrow. But the thing that I have just learned is this: In these bands isolated tornadoes will be possible anywhere within 50 – 100 miles of the southeast Texas Coast!
My location is Midtown - Houston TX and I will be updating this post through the day on the hurricane as well as the current weather conditions in my location. The location.
The hurricane is going to make landfall @ 7pm tonite!!!!
There are already reports to tornadoes & flooded roads!! In Galveston & Mexico !!! The hurricane is a CAT 2!!!!
Weather

12:47pm
Light rain w/ light winds. - nothing to much to be a big threat to get concerned about.

3:30pm
light gray skies w/ light wind. Around the early hour of 3 we did have a moderate rain shower w/ no thunder.

4:30pm
very light gray skies & windy.

Here i have found a more recent map of Hurricane Alex.

The map above is continuously updated on the current weather as u can see.

Tropical Storm ~ Hurrcaine Alex

About 2 weeks ago the meteorologists were not real concerned about this low pressure system but they kept their eyes on it. & what do u know. It comes in to the Caribbean & into the gulf & now they are saying that it will become or could become a hurricane before it makes landfall & that’s all we need with that oil spoil but luckily its steering far away from it. So I don’t think it will spread any farther than it is already doing.

I would really like to post better maps like the ones on weather.com but for some reason i do not know how to in the new draft posting in blogger. So here are some maps that i have found.
I heard when i was driving into work that the (now) tropical storm will become a hurricane but not a CAT 1 BUT a CAT2!!!

Tornadoes on a Partly Cloudy day???

Its soo odd how the weather service can put out a tornado watch when its soo nice outdoors!!! When i read the e-mail at work that one of my co-workers sent out i wanted to burst out laughing but I didn’t but I did chuckle a few times though!

But I figured it out it hasn’t come into Houston yet!. Its coming from the northwest up near Conroe is & College Station area is. But i bet ya all the storm chasers / spotters here in Houston ( and in the nearby counties & cities ) are jumping up & down & screaming yahoo!!!
I can't wait to get my training done & be an offical storm spotter along the sides of other storm spotters
I'll keep ya'll posted

                                                       Updated Map at 2:10pm

                             Updated at 2:23pm

Here is a link for US Severe Storm Alerts .  But remember that its listed by COUNTIES NOT CITIES!

The national Weather Service extended the tornado watch for Houston / Galveston TX until 4pm this afternoon.

UPDATE  We here in Houston are out of the Tornado watch as well as the severe weather.
